How it Happens

Much like Celiac’s Disease, people are born with Lunar Oculitis, but it does not become active until later in life. Although we know that this has to be triggered in some way, we don’t yet know what the triggers are. Flashing lights, extended screen usage, and the color yellow are all possible triggers.

Why it Happens

Due to the existence of the blindspot caused by the optic nerve, the brain is hard-wired to adjust for gaps in our vision. In the brain of a person suffering from Lunar Oculitis, the moon is perceived as one of these “gaps,” and the brain automatically uses the surrounding information to fill it in.
